Are films going to be killing the game like this all summer long?

So am I the only person who feels like there's literally no good movies, like ever, in the theaters?  I can't be alone in this feeling, right?  There's no way people are still getting amped up to see the 5,000th Tyler Perry movie.  Well, I just hopped on IMDB.com and the coming soon section actually didn't make me miserable.  Quite the opposite actually; it seems like over the next few weeks we've got some hits to look forward to.  Hangover II opens this weekend, then pretty much every weekend after that it's another sweet flick after another.

You guys have got to take a look at this:

May 26: Hangover Part II
June 3: X-Men: First Class
June 10: Super 8
June 17: Green Lantern
June 24: Bad Teacher

Nuts, right!  They even spaced it out nicely for us.  One hit a weekend; perfect.

P.S. Those of you saying "Green Lantern does not look like a good movie.", you're totally right-it doesn't.  For whatever reason I think it will still be awesome though.  Odds are that's probably because I'm a nerd/it's definitely because I'm a nerd.

  1. I completely agree that there are a ton of great movies coming out this summer! I'm probably the most excited about X-Men: First Class because it looks spectacular from all the "sneak peeks" I've seen online and I'm a huge fan of the other films. I'm not really sure if Green Lantern will be something that I will check out. I don't think it is going to be awful but the trailers seem really bad. I feel like they don't really show anything about the movie somehow. Green Lantern isn't really one of the big superheroes either like Batman or Spiderman so I feel like they needed to beef up the trailer a little more somehow to draw interest. I think it is also still a little crazy that they are still making so many comic book movies. I get that they are profitable but some things should be left alone to text and 2D drawings.

  2. I've been wanting to go see more movies lately, but nothing had been compelling me to actually go. I finally saw Fast Five which is the first movie I saw in theaters in over 8 months. I feel like that last sentence epitomizes my severe lack of quality and quantity in my movie going experiences

  3. I can honestly say that during summer I'm at the movies at least once a week. There's nothing better than going to the movies after a long day at the beach. I'm super excited to see The Hangover: Part II, it looks beyond hilarious. I'm surprised I haven't seen it yet actually. I'm not at ALL excited for The Green Lantern. I'm not a big Ryan Reynolds fan (I will never understand why girls go so crazy over him). I think I'm most excited to see Super 8. The trailer is amazing. It reminds me of a revamped E.T., in a way, but I think that has to do with the fact that Steven Spielberg is the producer of this movie. I have a feeling it might be a huge hit this summer that no one saw coming.

  4. I actually am pretty excited for a few movies to come out. I really am dying to see Transformers 3, Harry Potter, and yes, The Green Lantern. I have heard that Ryan Reynolds is actually good in this movie and I love him as an actor. After watching the movie Buried, a movie he would not usually do, I gained an even better appreciation of him as an actor. He made a movie that could have been really boring (and was a bit slow in the beginning) about a guy stuck in a coffin so compelling and actually left me feeling uneasy afterwards. There are few movies that leave me feeling so sad, amazed, and thought provoked afterwards and still love it at the same time. David, I also have been wanting to see Fast Five even though I haven't been to the theaters to see it. The filming of the final Batman movie has me excited as well. I think these summer Blockbusters are going to be great. I didn't like The Hangover (I know, I'm probably the only one) so I don't really care to see the second one. I think for awhile the movies have gone downhill, but I hope it picks back up again this summer!

  5. Yes! The summer movie hit streak has already begun. I went to the movies three times in the past two weeks...need I say more? Fast Five-- blew my mind like it never has before; Bridesmaids-- hilarious, I was in complete shock at how funny and not so romantic-like (what I was hoping for) that movie turned out to be; and of course I saw the new Pirates-- not as good as some in the past but I would still give it a solid two thumbs up. Next on my list-- Hangover 2 of course! The green lantern, and I'm not sure if this is a summer movie but I did see the previews for it (which also blew my mind), Transformers 3!!!!!!! I can't wait.

  6. I just know that the original green lantern was African American. I watched the Justice League as a child and it was always nice to see the diversity. I also think they could have done a better job with picking an actor. I just don't see how Ryan Reynolds is going to portray this serious role without taking it down a road that most Green Lantern fans don't want it to go. But hey, I'm going to give it a chance but only when it's out on video. As for all of the other movie's you have suggested, I'm looking forward to each of them. You failed to put Harry Potter up there but I wont hold it against you. July 15th is when it's out for those of ya'll who don't know.

  7. I don't care what the movie is like- as long as Ryan Reynolds is in it! :) Seriously, I've always seen him in comedies and then I saw him in Smokin' Aces which was a serious role- and he was amazing. Then he played Deadpool in Wolverine and he was actually creepy. I think he will do the movie Green Lantern justice. And of course I'm anxious to see what X-Men First Class has to offer...

  8. I love movies during the summer! Especially if it's one of those really humid afternoons and a thunderstorm rolls in to ruin a perfect beach day. Nothing like the movies to cheer me up. I'm sure I'll be seeing the Hangover Part II more than once!
